We grieved the many great musicians who died, but the sense that<br \/>\nthe countries we live in were collectively embracing paths that might make us<br \/>\nmourn the toppling of fundamental principals weighed even heavier. And 2017 has<br \/>\nshown that our dismay was not misplaced. There\u2019s no need to recount the shit<br \/>\nshow of USA politics here, except to say that it\u2019s fucking embarrassing to know<br \/>\nthat a sizable portion of your country is swallowing scams so transparent that if<br \/>\nyour teenager pulled that crap on you, you\u2019d ground them an extra week just for<br \/>\nthinking you were that dumb. But while compassion, justice, and reality contact<br \/>\nseem to have gone out the window, I\u2019ve never found music more sustaining.
